Dr. Shafik Sachedina is an influential person who is known for his support of the Muslim culture. Shafik was born in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania in 1950 and he moved to England where he became a British citizen.
He primarily traveled to England for his undergraduate course where he joined the University of London specifically the Guy’s Hospital and Medical and Dental School where he graduated in 1975 and became a qualified dentist. Mr. Sachedina currently heads the Jamati Institution located at the Aga Khan in France which was founded by Aga Khan.
At Jamati institution, Shafik Sachedina coordinates all the programs and activities of the Institute of Ismaili which has 16 primary branches. The Institute of Ismaili Studies is a research institute located in London which is dedicated to teaching students of the historical and contemporary culture and societies of Muslims. The institute has three programs, and students graduate after completing them. This helps the students in their career opportunities. Dr. Sachedina works to ensure the institution teaches students all the necessary information about the culture.

Moreover, Dr. Sachedina plays a role of interfacing with the Aga Khan Development Network Programmes and Institutions of the Ismaili communities around Central Asia. This role is undertaken majorly with voluntary capacity. Moreover, Shafik Sachedina has held other positions serving the Ismail community. The positions include a chairman of the Focus Humanitarian Assistance International, President of the Ismaili Council for the United Kingdom where he served for two consecutive terms, a member of the Aga Khan Development Network Committee and also he was a member of the Ismaili Leader’s International Forum.
Shafik Sachedina is also a chairperson of the board of the Sussex Healthcare. The board was established to provide high-quality care to patients. The hospital invests in its staff members and services to ensure the healthcare is offering quality care to patients. The hospital mainly trains its staff members improving their knowledge in medicine and how they should take care of patients.
Dr. Shafik does his best to ensure staff members are receiving enough training, for example, he recently invited experts to mentor and train the home delivering teams. Shafik is passionate about the healthcare industry, and he has developed an entrepreneurial interest in the industry. He goes beyond his dentistry field to make sure the healthcare field as a whole is satisfying people.
